WILLIAMSBURG —
O. Paul Hedge, 88, of Williamsburg, died Jan. 13, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Oliver Paul Hedge was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Oskaloosa, the son of Horrace P. and Lula Bell Bingeman Hedge. He graduated from Fremont High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-46 as an aviation radioman. Paul married Betty Rutherford on July 20, 1947, in Ottumwa. He was employed with Collins Radio for 15 years as an electrical engineer. In 1965, the couple moved to Williamsburg, where Paul owned and operated the Gambles Store. He later worked for Harbour-McEntire, Sam Belland and Roger Folkmann.
Paul is survived by his sons, Robert and Steven, both of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, in 2006; and a brother, Dale Hedge.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel; with Rev. Ronald Bupp officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery, Fremont.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be contributed to Iowa City Hospice or the Williamsburg Public Library.
