OTTUMWA —
In the extraordinarily compassionate care of the nurses and staff of The Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa, Tom Sorak, 91, peacefully passed away in the evening of Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. At his hand was Coy, his wife of 67 years.
Tom was born Tomo Stanley Sorak, the son of Dan and Mary Sorak, on Sept. 20, 1921 in Centerville.
The most enduring event of his life began the day of June 11, 1944 when he married Coy Evelyn Rhodes. She remains at their home, 422 North Caldwell St.
Tom was a son, a brother, a husband, a father. A tinkerer, a storyteller, a student, a mentor. And always, in wonder of things greater than himself.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Visitation; with Father Bernie Weir celebrating.
Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Visitation or The Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
