Charles A. Kuhn Sr., 73, of Ottumwa, died December 31, 2012 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born August 12, 1939 in Ottumwa to Carl and Marjorie Bloom Kuhn. He married Miko Shigemura on January 23, 1962 in Okinawa, Japan. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2010.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School and Indian Hills Community College, Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a computer programmer having lived in Chicago, IL from 1973 to 1980 and in Colorado Springs, CO from 1980 to 1993. He and Miko moved back to Ottumwa in 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Kuhn Jr. of West Greenwich, RI and Samuel (Lyn) Kuhn of Ft. Collins, CO; four granddaughters, Nicole Miko Kuhn, Kelly Taylor Kuhn, Rachel Kyung Kuhn and Sarah Rogers; two brothers, Michael (Ruth) Kuhn of Pella and Robert Kuhn of El Paso, TX and a sister, Joan (Mike) McMillin of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with his brother, Michael Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
