FAIRFIELD —
Donald E. Welch, 77, of Mason City and formerly of Fairfield, died at 8:32 a.m. December 29, 2012 at Heritage Care Center in Mason City.
He was born October 21, 1935 east of Fremont, IA to Ray and Irene Harkins Welch.
A 1954 graduate of Fremont High School, Donald had worked as a meat cutter at Giant Foods and Easters in Fairfield. He had been a resident of Mason City for the past 40 years.
Surviving is a son, Bruce Welch of Martinsburg; a daughter, Becky (Elton) Mills of Lubbock, TX; a sister, Velma Ring of Sioux City; two nieces, Sherry (Clifford) Bell of Downey, IA and Sandra (Ken) Oberman of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Ricky Mallams
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
