AGENCY —
Iris Y. Cassat, 75, of 2 Oakridge Rd., Ottumwa, formerly of 8218 73rd St., Agency, died at 6:55 p.m. March 11, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born June 1, 1937 west of Oskaloosa to William Howard “Bud” and Blanche Norris Johnson. She married James H. Cassat on October 3, 1964.
A 1955 graduate of Agency High School, Iris had attended Parsons College. She had worked at John Morrell & Co. prior to her marriage, and then became a full time wife and mother.
Iris was a very active member of Agency United Methodist Church, also a member of United Methodist Women, MUMMS and PTA. She and her husband had delivered Congregate Meals in Agency.
Surviving is her husband, Jim; two daughters, Jamie Ann Poe of Holyoke, CO, Dianne (Larry) Patrick of Ottumwa; two sons, David Wain (Sally) Cassat of Eldon, Ronald James (Mary) Cassat of Bloomfield; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Hahlweg, Christopher Hahlweg, Andy Patrick, Joshua (Jenny) Patrick, Casey Patrick, Tyler (Sarah) Lawson, Austin Cassat, Haley Cassat, Anthony Cassat, Amber Cassat; four great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Aiden and Ava Patrick, June Lawson; two sisters, Carol McCarroll of Agency, Fran (Tom) Brothers of St. Joseph, MO; and a brother, Thomas (Cindy) Johnson of Eldon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean J. Scott.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Agency United Methodist Church with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Burial will be in the Agency Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Agency United Methodist Church.
