ALBIA —
Megan Marie Selby, 29, of Chariton, formerly of Albia, passed away March 7, 2013, at her home in Chariton.
Megan was born Jan. 29, 1984, to Roberta Jones in Iowa City. She was later adopted by Kirby and Pam Selby.
Megan graduated from Albia High School, class of 2002. She worked at Ragtime Industries in Albia, along with the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.
While growing up, Megan attended Cornerstone Community Church in Albia. Megan had a big heart and enjoyed being around people, especially the elderly and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed music and was beginning to play the guitar.
Megan is survived by a son, Ian; companion, Russ Birkenholz of Chariton; parents, Kirby and Pam Selby of Albia; four stepchildren, Zachary, Auston, Marissa and Jared; a sister, Erin (Thad Phillips) Selby of Des Moines; two brothers, Jeremiah (Carrie) Selby of Albia and Tony Atchinson; and her nieces and nephews, Olivia, Rylee, Quinlin, Matthew, Julia, Caleb and Camille; her grandmothers, Norma Barnes of Lovilia and Ruth Jones of Chariton; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Megan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Madge Selby and Bill Barnes; and an aunt, Judy Geno.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cornerstone Community Church in Albia; with Pastors Brad Gray and Vince Belt officiating. Burial will be in Service Chapel Cemetery in rural Monroe County.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Megan’s family present from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
An open memorial has been established in Megan’s name.
