OTTUMWA —
Dan R. Mitchell, 67, of 22 Kadie Court in Linn Creek, MO and formerly of Ottumwa died at 3:08 a.m. March 17, 2013 at his home in Linn Creek, Missouri.
He was born January 8, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Elmer and Wyllis Hainline Mitchell. He married Pat Williams August 14, 1965.
A 1964 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #347 in Ottumwa and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2517 in Osage Beach, MO. He served 6 years as financial secretary for U.A.W. Local #74. He warmed our hearts with his love and generosity to his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Michael Mitchell of Riverside, CA and a daughter, Julie (Ty) Margenthaler of Cape Girardeau, MO; three grandchildren Nicole, Brice and Nate.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine; an infant son, Jeffery and a brother, Dick Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Pantry of the donor’s choice.
