OTTUMWA —
Martha J. Millard, 78, formerly of #1 Gladstone Circle, died at 2:40 a.m. June 22, 2012 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born July 7, 1933 in Ottumwa to Charles and Helen Wickline Courtney. She married Robert E. Millard on November 3, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2011.
She was a member of O.B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and spend time with her friends and family. She was generous and kind hearted, two qualities that helped make her the best mother and grandmother.
Surviving is her daughter, Donna (Rick) Kelderman of Ottumwa; a grandson, Spencer (Sara) Shepard of Des Moines; a step-grandson, Casey (Yadira) Kelderman; a great-granddaughter, Lily Shepard; a step-great-grandson, Wyatt Kelderman; two sisters, Rosemary Russell of Ottumwa and Donna Patrick of Yarmouth.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Millard; two brothers, Charles Wilbur Courtney and Don Courtney; and a sister, Helen Sparks.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society.
