BLOOMFIELD —
Verla Alma Waddle, 75, of 11239 20th St., died at 3:25 a.m. November 20, 2012 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born April 4, 1937 in Baring, MO to Ellsworth Henry and Minnie Evelyn Myers Dalton. She married Joseph “Joe” Edwin Waddle on May 11, 1956.
A graduate of Bloomfield High School, Alma owned and operated A & J Works, her own stained glass company. She had also worked at Frito Lay and for the Wapello County Sheriff Department.
Alma was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Surviving is her husband, Joe; four sons, Daniel (Beth) Waddle of Corning, John (DeAnna) Waddle of Bloomfield, Matt Waddle and James R. Waddle both of Batavia; two daughters, Mary (Mike) Sheeley of Ottumwa, Debra (Jim) Dyer of Riverside, CA; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Alta (Galen) Hackbarth of Coulter, IA; and a sister-in-law, Betty Dalton of Washington state.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Basil and Jim Dalton.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by family visitation until 4 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501.
