Hila Moore, 71, Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — Hila Fay Moore, 71, of 424 Osceola, died January 9, 2013 at her home.

She was born November 1, 1941 in Ottumwa to Clarence Robert and Zelda Julia Ware Beck. She married Harold S. Moore on October 27, 1963. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2003.

A 1959 graduate of Bloomfield High School, Hila had worked at Swenson’s Bakery and at St. Joseph Hospital in the business office. She then stayed home to raise her family. Hila returned to work, working at Herbergers.

She was a member of the Social Butterflies, and enjoyed playing bingo, gambling at casinos, gardening and flowers.

Surviving are two daughters, Nikki Moore (Paul Otto) of Erie, ND, Tracy Hamsa (Todd Flatequal) of Sioux Falls, SD; a son, Jamie Moore (Lisa Hohn) of Rapid City, SD; three grandchildren, Katie Bechert, Jacob and Tyler Hamsa; and a sister, Hilda Randolph of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Morrow and Hazel Pherigo; two brothers, Harold and Howard Thompson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501.
