OTTUMWA — Gregory Pope, 55, of 211 N. Green St., passed away at 9:35 a.m. November 12, 2012 at his home.

He was born August 6, 1957 in Mobile, AL to Jesse L. Hill Jr. and Jessie Louise Pope. He was lovingly raised by his mother and Earl Pope. On June 29, 1985, Gregory was married to his childhood friend and junior high school sweetheart, Sandra Gail Morehead. Together they had four children.

A 1976 graduate of Scott High School in Toledo, OH, Gregory had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 22 years. Upon moving to Ottumwa, he attended the Iowa School of Beauty and earned his cosmetology license. He had worked as a cosmetologist, had worked for 8 years with Summer’s Car Credit, and was currently employed with Cargill Meat Solutions.

Gregory was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where he was ordained Deacon on December 9, 2001, served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board and earned recognition as the Preaching Sunday School Teacher.
