OTTUMWA —
Dorothy Jane Norris Cox, 79, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Ottumwa, passed away July 31, 2012b at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born to Edward Norris and Josephine Clifford Norris on Oct. 8, 1932. Dorothy married Carl Cox in February 1958.
Dorothy worked as a pediatric registered nurse at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill., and was director of nursing at nursing homes in Ottumwa and Girard, Ill.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Karen (Jim) Hermes of Franklin Ill., Barbara (David) Prose of Ottumwa and Mary Burns of Springfield, Ill.; two sons, Steve (Cindy) Cox of Alpharetta, Ga., and Paul (Dixie) Cox of Newton; six grandchildren, Adam (Marci) Prose, Stefanie Paxton and Sarah (Larry) Hopkins, all of Ottumwa, Brandon, Michael and Payton Cox of Newton; six great-grandchildren, all of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Kathleen VanLeer and Patricia Hartman, both of Springfield, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Bernadine Norris, Mary Jo Knudson, Marilyn Brown, and Margaret Treat; and three brothers, Ken Norris, Jim Norris, and John Norris.
Funeral Mass was held Aug. 4 at Church of the Little Flower in Springfield, Ill. Burial will take place at McKenny Cemetery in Springfield at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, Ill. 62703.
