OTTUMWA —
Guelda A. Carruthers, 85, of 910 W. Second St., died at 12:35 p.m. July 29, 2012, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born Jan. 14, 1927 in Moravia, to Ned L. and Mildred M. Dicks Argo.
A 1945 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she had attended the Iowa Success School. Guelda had been employed at Lowenberg Bakery, F.W. Woolworth’s and Easter’s Food.
She had been a member of the First Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie Brereton and Nancy Hayes of Ottumwa; a granddaughter, Jennifer Brereton; a sister, Laura Jo (Dean) Barks of Bennington, NE; a brother, Robert Argo of Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Keith Argo and a son-in-law, Rodger Hayes.
Graveside services and burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Rev. David Klanderman officiating.
Visitation will be open after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
