BLOOMFIELD —
Earl A. Grove Jr., 59, of Bloomfield, died Jan. 21, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Fremont, Neb., to Earl A. and Berniece Krause Grove. He married Susan C. Frick Nov. 27, 1976, in Bloomfield.
Earl served in the U.S. Army from 1972-74 and was stationed in Korea. He was an auto body technician and most recently had worked at Spilman Auto Parts in Bloomfield. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington and had been attending the Floris Baptist Church in Floris.
He is survived by his wife; his two labs, Molly and Maggie; two adopted daughters; three grandchildren; a sister, Carlene (Phil) Horn of Bloomfield; two nieces, Tammy (Eric) Roberts and Trisha Horn, both of Bloomfield; a nephew, Chad (Sarah) Horn of Bloomfield; several other nieces and nephews; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Jim (Lana) Frick of Colchester, Ill., and Bob (Tammy) Frick of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial with military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials have been established to the Look to the Stars Cancer Foundation and the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
