EDDYVILLE —
Elizabeth Louise Brady, 79, of Eddyville, passed away from cancer of the liver Jan. 18, 2013, at the Hospice Serenity House of Oskaloosa.
Elizabeth was born on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1933, in Omaha, Neb., to Hans and Rachel (Derycke) Walpus. She was raised in Omaha and attended and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Omaha. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Terrence K. Brady on Sept. 8, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Omaha, Nebraska. They were blessed with over 56 years of marriage and three children, Kathleen, Maureen and Patrick.
After high school, Elizabeth worked with an insurance company and later became a medical transcriptionist. She worked for 26 years as a medical transcriptionist at the University of Wisconsin, Iowa City Hospital and for the last seven years of her career at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Her family was her greatest love and joy. She dedicated her life to them.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Terry Brady of Eddyville; their three children, Kathleen (Brian) Murray of Ottumwa, Maureen Shay of Eddyville and Patrick Brady of Eddyville; and seven grandchildren, Michael Shay, Megan Shay, Sean Fowler, Shane Murray, Terry Brady, Alan Brady and Taylor Brady.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Jim Walpus.
Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel with Elizabeth’s family present from 6-8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Hospice Serenity House of Oskaloosa.
