STOCKPORT —
Myron “Dean” Burns, 68, of Stockport, passed away Jan. 13, 2013, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
Myron “Dean” Burns was born June 18, 1944, in Fort Madison to Richard Dale and Melva Jane Workman. He married Diane Roll and later divorced.
Dean was a lifelong resident of the Stockport area. He graduated from Stockport High School class of 1962. He owned and operated Captain Clean business for 40 years, and it is still in business. He was a member of Elk's Lodge #1192 of Fairfield. Dean was an Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam.
Dean is survived by two children, Rodney (Jennifer) Burns of Ottumwa and Deanne (Sean) Doherty of Downers Grove, Ill.; five grandchildren, Carter Burns, Meg Burns, Nathan Burns, all of Ottumwa, and Molly Doherty and Emily Doherty of Downers Grove, Ill.; two siblings, Dalene (Roger) Johnson of West Liberty and Rick Workman of Fort Worth, Texas.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield; with Father Stephen Page officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-6 p.m. today at the church, with prayers for Christian wake at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Stockport Fire Department. Memorials and cards can be sent to 460 E. Rochester St., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
