OTTUMWA —
Paulette Lorenda Gatlin Crow, 76, of 1316 E. Mary St. went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on January 12, 2013. She was faithfully attended during a lengthy illness by her daughter, Lorrie Mae.
She was born March 19, 1936 in Livonia, Missouri to John & Ruth Hart Gatlin. She married Floyd “Johnny” Starbuck to which 3 daughters were born, Debbie, Brenda & Sharon Kay. She later married Virgil “Pete” Surber and together they had Paul “Skip”, Chris, Barbara, Kevin & Brian. She then married Larry Morrow, Sr. and welcomed his children, Freddie, Lillie & James with open arms and to this union was born the last two of her children, Larry “Button”,Jr. & Lorrie. Her husband, Larry, preceded her in death. Later in life she was united in marriage to Leslie Crow. He also preceded her in death.
An avid country singer, she could be heard on TV with the Rhythm Playboys in the 60’s or playing her accordion on the radio.
She leaves behind many friends and acquaintances gained while employed at Danny’s Tap and on her Facebook account.
Surviving are all of her children, Deborah (Les) McLaughlin, Brenda (Randy Gooden) Miller, both of Ottumwa, Sharon Starbuck of Centerville, Paul, Chris (Lisa), Kevin, Brian Surber and Barbara Walch all of Galesburg, Illinois, Larry & Lorrie Morrow of Ottumwa, Freddie (Denise) Morrow of Bloomfield and Lillie Fiedler of Algona. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Morrow and a grandson, Mitchel Surber.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tenco Industries, who created life changing strides for her daughter, Sharon Kay or Iowa Hospice, who lovingly helped care for her through the last days of her life.
