OTTUMWA —
Rosa Ellen Hem, 86, died Dec. 22, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was born in Ottumwa to Loney and Gladys Cox Baugher. She married Charles Hem on July 12, 1943, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death July 31, 2002.
Rosa was an avid reader. She and her husband loved to travel, camp and garden. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary post #775 of Ottumwa and had worked for the Head Start program for 22 years. She also served as a teacher. Rosa was involved with the Centeral addition reunion and was very family-oriented.
Rosa is survived by two sons, Larry (Marti) Hem and Richard (RaeAnne) Hem; two daughters, Ellen Brammann and Charlene (Rick) Brandenburg; three brothers, Manuel Baugher, Ralph Baugher and Walter Baugher; two sisters, Faye Richardson and Effie Simmons; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Terry Brammann; a brother, Jack; a sister, Mary Etta; and a son-in-law, Richard Brammann.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Shrine of Memories Funeral Home; with the. Rev. Sandra Line officiating. Burial will follow at the Iowaville Cemetery near Eldon.
Visitation will begin at noon today at the Shrine of Memories Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Parkinson Research.
Shrine of Memories Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
