OTTUMWA —
Virginia Lou Richards, 76, of Racine, WI, formerly of Ottumwa, died February 24, 2013 at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove, WI.
She was born March 2, 1936 in Ottumwa to Roy and Zella Eyre. She married William “Sally” Richards, he preceded her in death.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Virginia did several types of work, but her last job was at the Canteen Lunch in the Alley where she served up the “Famous Canteens”.
She enjoyed roller skating and bowling in her early years. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts and going to garage sales. She was a long time member of a Bunco club in Ottumwa.
Virginia spent her last four years in Racine, WI close to her daughter, Marta, and son-in-law, Steven Blaha and her three grandchildren, Andrew, Stephanie and Tiffany. She is also survived by a sister, Donna (Melvin) Deevers and a nephew, Dan Deevers.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Mattox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
