KEOTA —
Donald E. “Don” Walker, 78, of Keota, died Oct. 15, 2012, at his residence after a decline in health.
Don was born May 24, 1934, in New London, the son of Dale E. and Alice C. Walker. On Dec. 23, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Mary A. Leeper in Ottumwa.
He graduated from Farson High School. Don has resided in Keota since 2002 and had previously lived throughout the Midwest. He owned and operated Don Walker Chevrolet in Washington from 1977-81. Prior to that, Don managed tractor supply stores in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Illinois. He was a member of the Prairie Flower Baptist Church. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Walker of Keota; daughter, Cindy (Gary) Blunier of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Kerry (Joe) Hadley of Richland; son, Randy (Maria) Walker of Adel; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Whittington of Farson, Lola Chambers of Mesa, Ariz., and Eunice Yeager of Martinsburg; and two brothers, Dale J. (Shirley) Walker of Farson and Derald (Lucille) Walker of Milwaukee, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Celebration of life services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Prairie Flower Baptist Church; with Pastor Don Collings and Pastor Tim Hadley officiating. Private family interment will take place at the Competine Cemetery near Farson at a later date.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m.
Memorials have been established for Prairie Flower Baptist Church or the Keota First Responders.
