OTTUMWA —
Phyllis Irene McCurdy Orman, 90, formerly of 1002 Jay St., died at 9:23 p.m. October 10, 2012 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born September 8, 1922 on a farm near Wright, IA to Alva and Lelia Fox McCurdy. She married Francis “Frank” Orman on December 6, 1945 at the Willard St. United Methodist Church in Ottumwa.
A graduate of Cedar High School, Phyllis graduated from the Iowa Success Business School. She had worked at several insurance agencies including Latimer & Gustavison, Gustavison, Nimocks, Noel and for Drish & Davis Accounting.
She was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church and the Girls Club.
Phyllis enjoyed crafts, stamp collecting and travelling. She and her husband had spent 20 winters in Florida.
Surviving is her husband, Frank; a son, Dr. Bruce (Laura Beckwith) Orman of Ankeny; a sister, Frances Brown of Ottumwa; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chester and Carroll McCurdy.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard St. United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
