ALBIA —
Shirley Ann Paxton, 70, of Albia, formerly of Fremont, died Nove. 3, 2012, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehab in Albia.
She was born Sunday, July 5, 1942, in Hayesville, the daughter of Merle and Geneva Van Orsdall Paxton. Following school, Shirley stayed home to help raise her brothers and sister. She also worked as a C.N.A. for a time and later at Tenco and provided in home care. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, embroidery work and making hook rugs. She was a huge Iowa Hawkeye and Philadelphia Eagles fan but most importantly enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her extended family at Oakwood Nuring and Rehab.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Paxton and Lucinda (& Norman) Blád, both of Fremont; a son, Jayme Paxton of Fremont; three grandchildren, Allison, Vanessa and Landen Blád, all of Fremont; four brothers, Terry (& Nancy) Paxton and Richard Paxton, both of Oskaloosa, and Dennis and Danny Paxton, both of Fremont; and a sister, Deb Paxton of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Larry, David, and Robert Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel; with Reverend Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Shirley Paxton Memorial Fund.
