DOUDS —
Lawrence D. Carr, 65, of rural Douds, died Nov. 3, 2012, at home.
He was born April 28, 1947, in Ottumwa to Stephen and Melva Pearson Carr. Lawrence graduated from Van Buren High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam, where he was wounded in action. He had worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield and John Deere in Ottumwa and retired from Pinkerton Security Co. as a guard at Meritor Corp., Fairfield. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a brother, Carl Carr of Douds; two sisters, Linda Rosendaal of Oskaloosa and Phyllis Hendricks of Bonaparte; and nieces and nephews.
He was preced in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Carol Carr.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds; with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds. Military rites will be by John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, Douds.
Visitation will open at 2 p.m. today with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 412 4th Street, Bonaparte, Iowa 52620.
