OTTUMWA —
Mary Rose Herrmann, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Ottumwa, died Sept. 18, 2012, at the Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mt. Pleasant.
Mrs. Herrmann, the former Mary Louise Ulmerb was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Ottumwa. She was the daughter of Francis and Faye (Stephens) Ulmer. On March 31, 1940, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ottumwa, Mary was united in marriage to Charles Rose. The couple later divorced. On July 3, 1972, she married William Herrmann. Mr. Herrmann died in 1999.
She attended school in Ottumwa.
Mary farmed with Charles in Wapello County, where they raised their four daughters and one son. She was a hard-working farm wife and 4-H leader. With her second husband, they owned and operated Herrmann’s Gardens. She moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1999 following the death of her second husband.
Mary was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ottumwa.
Survivors include a son, James Rose of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Patricia (Doran) Bollman of Pulaski, Linda (Gale) Bogle of Agency and Vicki (Tim) Lohmann of Mt. Pleasant; a son-in-law, Dean Bolin of Salem; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; second husband; a daughter, Judy Bolin; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass for Mrs. Herrmann will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 607 S. Jackson St., Mt. Pleasant; Father Joseph Phung, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., and there will be a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, is in charge of the arrangements.
