OTTUMWA —
Charges have been dismissed in the case of a girl kidnapped at knifepoint in Ottumwa last month.
On Dec. 18, Abraham Anthony Barraza, 30, 203 S. Adams Ave., was charged with second-degree kidnapping, a Class B felony, after it was reported to police that a 17-year-old girl was assaulted and forcibly removed from the home by an individual armed with a machete.
After Barraza returned to the residence, he was arrested and also charged on outstanding warrants for serious assault and serious domestic abuse stemming from an incident at the residence the day prior to the alleged kidnapping.
The girl was later located at another residence with “no obvious injuries,” Lt. Tom McAndrew previously told the Courier.
At Barraza’s preliminary hearing Wednesday morning, the charge was dismissed and he was ordered to pay court costs.
