SIGOURNEY —
Keokuk County will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of their 4-H/FFA exposition July 12-17 in Sigourney.
This year’s fair includes a carnival Thursday, July 14 through Saturday, July 16.
Kicking off the exposition on Tuesday will be the 4-H/FFA club round bale decorating contest from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Come out and see the creative pieces.
On Wednesday the 4-H dog obedience show, a family favorite, takes place at 12:30 p.m., followed by the 4-H/FFA pet show at 3:30 p.m. A Barbecue at 6 p.m. ends the night.
At 8 a.m. Thursday, the 4-H/ FFA horse show takes place followed by the poultry show and rabbit show later in the afternoon. Thursday night, Bill Riley talent show will be starting at 6 p.m. followed by the queen contest.
The livestock shows take place all day Friday starting at 8 a.m. with the Gwen Sebastian concert at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.
Rounding out the 2011 exposition on Saturday is Kid’s Day. The kiddie farmer parade will take place Saturday morning during the cattle show. The baby contest begins at 1 p.m. Later in the afternoon kids can take part in a youth scavenger hunt and watch a pie eating contest. The figure eight car races end the evening at 6:30 p.m.

Gothic House Center has new outdoor exhibit area
Four outdoor panels will be available to visitors who stop by when the American Gothic House Center is closed. One panel features the history of the American Gothic House, and the others are about Grant Wood’s painting, his life and the impact of this painting.
