BLOOMFIELD —
An educator convicted of carrying on a sexual relationship with a student is going to prison, a judge said Wednesday.
Patrick “Ryan” Nicoletto, 34, of Davis County, will serve up to five years in prison for one count of sexual exploitation by a counselor, therapist or school employee. The sentence is not suspended, according to documents from the court, but the sentence could end earlier than the five years.
Nicoletto will then be required to register as a sex offender, be supervised by the department of corrections for 10 years and pay fines, surcharges and court costs.
Nicoletto was arrested by the Bloomfield Police Department one year ago. He was a coach with the Davis County school district.
According to the affidavit made by arresting officers, the crime itself took place four years ago.
“During the school year of 2008 and the summer of 2008, the defendant did engage in a pattern of conduct for the purpose of satisfying the sexual desires of the defendant with a Davis County High School student [while] employed by the Davis Community Schools as a coach for different sports. The defendant would engage in sex acts with the student at his residence.”
The complaint goes on to say there were numerous text messages used to set up such meetings and that the student, at the time, was a junior at the high school.
