OSKALOOSA —
A former member of the Wapello County Attorney's office is now an associate judge.
Rose Anne Mefford, Cedar, was picked for the position of district associate judge for Sub-District 8A to fill a vacancy. Judge Randy DeGeest formerly held the position, but he was appointed as a district court judge.
Mefford's appointment was unanimous.
Mefford worked as an assistant county attorney in Ottumwa from 1995-2001. She departed for the Albers and Mefford law firm, in which she was a partner, in 2001, then returned to the county attorney's office from 2003-2005.
Mefford became Mahaska County's county attorney in January 2006 by appointment. She was elected to the office in November 2006 and again in 2010.
Mefford is a 1994 graduate of the University of Iowa's law school and a member of the Iowa and Mahaska County bar associations.
