OTTUMWA —
No charges have been filed yet in a weekend stabbing, but the two victims are pulling through.
Ottumwa Police Sgt. Steve Kovacs said the two male victims, both of Ottumwa, were Tracy Johnson, 51, and Danny Bullock, 46.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 616 E. Main St. at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived at the apartment building, they found Johnson with multiple stab wounds.
Johnson was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center, then transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he is currently in stable condition, Kovacs said.
Just 10 minutes later, an off-duty Wapello County sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle driving erratically near U.S. Highway 34 and North Quincy Avenue.
When the deputy eventually came into contact with the driver, he found Bullock with a single stab wound.
Bullock was also taken to ORHC and has since been treated and released.
“We have a lot of information regarding what occurred, but at this point we can’t give any of that out,” Kovacs said, since the investigation is ongoing and a suspect has not been named.
But the public does not need to be worried for their safety, he said.
