PHOTOS: Stuck to a good cause
Sixth grade math, science and reading teacher Heather Haufe volunteered to be duct taped to the gym wall at Evans Middle School during the lunch hour Wednesday afternoon as part of the student council’s “Stuck for a Buck” fundraiser, which benefits the Pennies for Patients campaign, which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Haufe was the only one out of four teachers to stay stuck after students pulled the chair away Wednesday. Each strip of duct tape cost $1, and by the end of the lunch hour, the council had raised $94. Along with this fundraiser, each advisory class has collection boxes, and each advisory teacher is holding a competition to collect the largest amount of money. Last year, the school raised more than $1,000.
