An Ottumwa man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge and will be sentenced in April.
In July 2012, the Ottumwa Police Department and the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence of Antonio DeJesus Echeverria in the 1200 block of North Adams Avenue.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers seized two handguns, ammunition, marijuana, marijuana plants and 112 grams of methamphetamine. The street value of methamphetamine is $100-$120 per gram.
Echeverria, 25, was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In October, his case was transferred to federal court and last month, Echeverria pleaded guilty only to the drug charge.
“Government agrees to dismiss count two of the Indictment [felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition] at the time of sentencing,” according to court documents.
Echeverria will be sentenced on April 19 before Senior Judge Ronald E. Longstaff in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
