OTTUMWA —
A tax that allows for equipment replacement at Indian Hills Community College passed in Wapello County in the special election Tuesday.
The tax has existed for 20 years and applies to all property owners in the 10-county region covered by the college. The tax of 6 cents per $1,000 of assessed value raises around $380,000 per year.
The measure passed 188-45 in Wapello County.
Results from the nine other counties will be available following the Dec. 18 canvass.
