Ottumwa High School unveils new logo and mascot images

OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa school district has a new logo and an official bulldog mascot

The logo, designed by Ottumwan Chris Abigt, highlights the “O” and “Ottumwa.” A committee of community members provided input into the design.

Superintendent Davis Eidahl said he believes the district has a lot to be proud of and the schools are a big part in that.

“We wanted a logo that connects our schools to the community,” he said. “We hope to see the logo worn with pride throughout Ottumwa.”

The district also had Abigt design an official bulldog mascot. In the history of the district, there has never been an official bulldog, school officials said. Over the years, groups and organizations just pulled generic bulldogs from a variety of sources for use on district apparel.
