OTTUMWA —
The man who allegedly kidnapped a teenage girl at knifepoint in December has been charged again.
Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, Abraham Anthony Barraza, 30, who now lists his address as 2211 Roemer Ave. #23, was charged in the 500 block of East Williams Street on warrants for second-degree kidnapping, domestic abuse assault by strangulation and going armed with intent stemming from an incident on Dec. 18, 2012.
Iowa Courts Online also lists charges of willful injury resulting in bodily injury, domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon, first-degree harassment, concealed knife used in a crime, going armed with a knife blade longer than 8 inches and operating a vehicle without consent stemming from the Dec. 18 incident.
No attorneys were available to address the case on Friday.
The night of Dec. 18, the Ottumwa Police Department received a report of a disturbance at a house in the 200 block of South Adams Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a 17-year-old girl had been assaulted and forcibly removed from the residence by an individual armed with a machete and had left in a vehicle with her.
Barraza, who then listed the South Adams Avenue house as his residence, later returned without the victim.
He was immediately arrested on outstanding warrants for serious assault and serious domestic abuse stemming from an incident at the residence on the day before, and was also charged with second-degree kidnapping, a Class B felony.
The victim was later located at another residence with no apparent injuries.
Earlier this January, the kidnapping charge against Barraza had been dropped, though he was still being held in jail.
He remains in the Wapello County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond.
