OTTUMWA — Police have filed additional charges in the case of a man who allegedly attacked three other people with a hatchet.
Charles Julian Jason Zwer, 26, was charged with attempted murder after police were called to his home on Sunday, July 22. Three people had been injured at the home, including one who was critically injured.
On Thursday, police charged Zwer with two counts of willful injury and one count of going armed with intent. All three charges are felonies. One of the willful injury charges is a Class C felony, while the other new charges are both Class D.
In total, the new charges could lead to 20 years in prison.
Zwer is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $295,000 bond.
