OTTUMWA —
In the last couple of weeks I have come to appreciate the fact that we live in an area where people are genuinely nice, just because, with no reward but the feeling of “being nice.” Do these things happen in the bigger cities? I don’t think so.
Last week on a bitterly cold, windy, Ottumwa night, a very nice woman and her daughter made the trip to my door with mail for me which landed in her box and which happened to be my W2 and she “thought I may be looking for it.” I thanked her, but it didn’t seem to be enough.
Today my pharmacy, South Side Drug, took extra time and trouble to accommodate me with using an online coupon I had found for my med. It did not go smoothly, but they made it work. Again I thanked them, but it didn’t seem enough. I’m afraid had they not known me by name as a bigger city pharmacy would not, one attempt would have been made and I would have paid full price.
I will try and pass this kindness on and maybe more Ottumwans will do the same!
