FAIRFIELD —
Pianist Ilya Yakushev, a fresh and exciting new presence in the piano world, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 5 at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts as part of the 2012-13 concert series sponsored by the Fairfield Concert Association.
Last season, Yakushev received critical acclaim and international attention through his European tour, with solo recitals in Berlin, Vienna and Dusseldorf. He also toured Southeast Asia, performing in Singapore and Malaysia. He is making a return visit to the Midwest after a highly successful tour in the 2008-09 season.
This time Yakushev is carrying a video presentation (which will appear on a screen) of the paintings which inspired Musssorgsky to compose his Pictures At An Exhibition.
Admission is by membership only. Members of the reciprocating associations of Centerville, Ottumwa, Washington and Keokuk should bring their membership cards. For additional information, call 641-472-4347.
