The internationally acclaimed Dallas Brass brings their American Musical Journey to the Sondheim Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Dallas Brass is high energy and fun with something in their repertoire for everyone.
Founded in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass concert, American Musical Journey, incorporates a full complement of brass and percussion for a musical travelogue through American history. From the time of George Washington to the present day — music will be selected from the masters — Copland, Bernstein, Gershwin, Berlin, John Williams, Sousa; from bands like the Tijuana Brass and Chicago; and styles from Dixieland, swing, Broadway, folk, patriotic, pop and even hip-hop.
The Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall and shared the stage with the late Bob Hope. They have appeared on the CBS “Early Show” and their music has been used numerous times on the television show “The Young & The Restless.”
Dallas Brass — American Musical Journey is part of the 2012-13 Sondheim Artist Series. Tickets are $22 for Zone 1, $18 for Zone 2, $15 for Zone 3 and youth tickets are $12 and available at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center Ticket Office, 641-472-2787 and www.FairfieldACC.com.
