OTTUMWA —
The Bridge City BBQ Fest gets under way at 5 p.m. June 8 at the Bridge View Center.
A number of activities and food will be available.
Among the festivities:
• BP/Elliott Oil Team USA Olympic Experience Road Show, 5-9 p.m.
• People’s Choice BBQ (samples only), 5-7 p.m.
• Community 1st Kids’ Zone, 5-8 p.m.
• Ottumwa Police and Ottumwa Fire “Fire & Vice” Rib Eating Contest, 7 p.m.
• O’Hara “Kids-Q” Challenge, 5:30 p.m. (ages 6-12 and 13-17)
• Entertainment tent/Winger watering hole, 5-11 p.m.
There will be music provided by the Jim Casey Band, Slick Willy and Sez Who.
Admission is free. Food vendors will be available throughout the evening.
Both professional and backyard barbecue teams will be competing for cash and prizes on June 9 in the Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned contest.
