Finals for O-Talent Show Saturday evening at IHCC

OTTUMWA — The finals are set for the O-Talent Show to be held at Indian Hills Community College’s St. John Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Performing and Visual Arts at IHCC and KLEE-AM/KOTM-FM, the O-Talent Show is a traditional competitive talent show featuring area vocalists much in the same style as “America’s Got Talent” or “American Idol.”

Judges for the final round of competition will be Dr. Laura Wiebe, vocal professor at IHCC; Natalie Saunders, drama director at Ottumwa High School; and Pam DeBoer, vocal teacher at Evans Middle School. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Winner.

In the semi-finals, the Judges’ Choice winners included: Chantelle Niner (Ottumwa), performing in sign language “See You Again” by Carrie Underwood; Jay Jacobson (Des Moines), singing “One Song Glory” from the Broadway musical, “Rent;” Tyler Breeding (Fairfield), performing “Empty Chairs, Empty Tables” from the Broadway musical “Les Miserables;” Julia Beall (Moravia), singing “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” by Shania Twain; Mason Ferguson (Wayland), performing “If Ever I Would Leave You” from “Camelot;” Stephanie Fisk (Bloomfield), performing “Breathe” by Anna Nalick; and Kitt Linville (Ottumwa), singing One Direction’s “Little Things.”

The People’s Choice winners of the semi-final round were: Tori-Kai Drummond (Ottumwa), singing “All Good Things Come to an End” by Nelly Furtado and Alexis Petary (Bloomfield), performing an original piece.

Tickets for the finals are $7 each and will be available at the door with all funds raised going to support future performing arts events at Indian Hills.
