OTTUMWA — South Ottumwa Savings Bank kicks off the 9th season of Live After Five on Friday, July 10 from 5-7:30 p.m. today7-10 in Central Park, downtown Ottumwa.

For the second year, “Miss Major & her Minor Mood Swings” is returning for a lively performance and is sponsored by Vaughn Automotive.

“Miss Major & her Minor Mood Swings” is a Kansas City-based band known for its rockabilly, jump blues and swing tunes and electric stage presence. This five-piece group has opened for such acts as country music group Little Texas, Johnny Cash’s original band the Tennessee Three, rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson, and blues guitarist Ana Popovic. They have several CD releases and will be available for sale.

“We’re really fired up to be asked back to play for South Ottumwa Savings Bank Live After Five this year, because it’s such a great event,” said Julie Major, the band's namesake and vocalist. “It’s a good opportunity for people to be able to enjoy free live music, the bank does such a great job putting this event together, and Ottumwa is my hometown, so it’s a thrill to come back and be able to play.”

“We’re off to a tremendous start this summer and invite everyone to join the fun and connect with friends … old or new,” said Pam Kaupins, bank vice president of marketing.
