Arts Council offers free film on Ioway
OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Area Arts Council will host the film “Lost Nation: The Ioway” at 2 p.m. April 5 at Bridge View Center in Ottumwa.
A guest lecture will follow featuring the film’s producers, Kelly and Tammy Rundle from Waterloo.
This event is free to the public.
This is the last event in the seven-month film and lecture series sponsored by the arts council with support from Humanities Iowa.
The film features the true story of two Ioway brothers and their struggle to save their people from inevitable American conquest.
After the tribe is removed, the 35 million acres they once called home is named Iowa.
The film also tells of the Ioway’s current fight to reclaim and maintain their unique history and culture.
