IHCC Madrigals free concert Feb. 17 at St. John Auditorium

OTTUMWA --- The sounds of about 400 years ago will fill St. John Auditorium at 3 p.m. Sunday, when Indian Hills Community College presents its annual Madrigals Concert.

Director Michael Philipsen will lead the Indian Hills Concert Choir, Camerata Singers and selected IHCC vocal student soloists’ performance. Admission is free and open to the public.

The musicians will be dressed in Renaissance-style costumes to help complete the illusion of a concert performed during the Renaissance era, which lasted approximately from 1450 to 1620.

Students involved in the concert include: Jennifer Bennett and Zeth Gruwell (Agency), Michael Terrell (Albia), Laura Deaton (Bloomfield), Matt Rebol (Chariton), Matt Martz and Kayla Townsend (Des Moines), Kendra Bogert (Drakesville), Dane Francis (Eddyville), Jonathan Bartle, Rebecca Bartle, Rachel Gevock and Kaelynne Nevins (Fairfield), Nathan Hemmings (Farmington), Hannah Gammack and Marc Gammack (Hayesville), Lindsay Mahair (Keokuk), Heather Binkley (Moravia), Jess Henderson (Mt. Pleasant), Adam Sawyer (Ollie), Natalie Berto, Rachael Ehrenhard, Matthew Fiedler, Ashley Kent, Carlin Mitchell, Tyler Smith and Adreonna Tucker (Ottumwa), Thomas J. Ready (Pella), Andraya Stender (Pleasantville), Miranda Rains (Sigourney), Kayleen Collopy (Gering, Neb.).
