Peled to perform in Fairfield Feb. 5

FAIRFIELD — Amit Peled, acclaimed as one of the most exciting instrumentalists on the concert stage today, comes to the stage of the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 as part of the current concert series sponsored by the Fairfield Concert Association.

Israeli cellist Amit Peled is a musician of profound artistry and charismatic stage presence who has performed in the world’s major concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully hall in New York City; Salle Gaveau, Paris; Wigmore Hall, London; Konzerthaus, Berlin; and Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium.

Peled has been featured on TV and radio throughout the world, including NPR’s “Performance Today,” WGBH Boston, WQZR New York, Deutschland Radio Berlin and Radio France.

He has recently released two critically acclaimed CDs: “The Jewish Soul” and “Cellobration” under Centaur Records Label.

Peled is a professor at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University and plays a rare Andre Guarneri cello ca. 1689.

Admission is by membership only. Members of the reciprocating associations of Fairfield, Centerville, Ottumwa, Washington and Keokuk should be sure  to bring their membership cards with them.
