OTTUMWA —
The Ottumwa school district would like to get to work on the improvements to their athletic facilities.
The school board is scheduled to vote on the construction project to upgrade Schafer Stadium during a special session Monday. The board did not want to have to wait until the next regular meeting of the board simply to give the go ahead.
“It’s just timing as far as when the bids can be back in and then to move as quickly as possible,” said district Business Manager John Donner.
If the board does vote to accept the construction contract, the project at Schafer Stadium will include a concession area with rest rooms near the Steller Avenue entrance, as well as a team building.
The board scheduled the meeting for 6 p.m. Monday in the central office boardroom, 422 McCarroll Drive.
