OTTUMWA —
The Wapello County Trails Council’s first Run to Fund will be held at 8 a.m. Oct. 20 to further the trails system within the area.
Run to Fund, a 5K and 10K run, will utilize sections of the completed levee trail system as part of the running route. The event, chaired by Emily Anderson and Courtney Brown, will be the first event of its kind sponsored by the trails council.
Beginning in the Beach Ottumwa parking lot, registration is $25 in advance and $25 on race day. Runners will receive a race packet, free T-shirt and prizes. Refreshments will be available after the race.

The run will raise awareness of trails in Ottumwa as well as raise funds for the council’s next project, an underpass under U.S. Highway 34 between U.S. Highway 63 and Quincy Avenue, near the Bark Park. All ages are encouraged to participate.
