OTTUMWA —
Although there hasn’t been much said lately, the Wapello County Board of Supervisors are still working on the county’s radio communications tower project.
During its meeting next week, the board will discuss an agreement with RACOM Critical Communications to be the technical advisor on the Wapello County Communications Tower project, Supervisor Steve Siegel said Friday.
The tower has been on top of the former St. Joseph Hospital for years, but Ottumwa Regional Health Center has plans to raze the building in the near future.
Board members and law enforcement officials have worked together and found a suitable high-point location for the tower.
Meanwhile, the board will also discuss two cases pertaining to property taxes. First up will be a procedure for annual review of suspension of property taxes.
The second case will include a resolution to remove persons from tax suspension under the same section of the Iowa Code.
Also, the board has found someone to fill two part-time spots, one at the American Gothic House Visitors Center in Eldon and the other at Ottumwa’s Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Siegel said the positions will be funded by an $8,000 state grant and $2,000 from the Wapello County Supervisors through LOST funding.
The board will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the boardroom on the third floor of the Wapello County Couthouse. The meeting is open to the public.
