OTTUMWA —
Renewing insurance and approving tax suspensions provide most of the agenda when the Wapello County Board of Supervisors meet next week.
Wapello County Supervisor Jerry Parker said Friday that the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool item is about renewing the county’s insurance.
Board members will also consider approving tax suspensions as verified by the Iowa Department of Human Services and as stated in Iowa Code section 427.9 for continued eligibility.
Parker said there are two areas where people can get tax suspensions. One is Section 427.8 and it directs the supervisors to review the financial problems an individual has; and, the other is 427.9 and it applies to people who are approved through the Department of Human Services.
Every year the supervisors look at the year before to see if there’s been a change in income or status, be it suspended or not, according to Parker.
“These are taxes and they don’t go away,” he added.
The board meeting is slated for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the courthouse.
