Two arrested following high speed chase in Centerville

CENTERVILLE — A man and woman were arrested Sunday evening after what authorities are describing as a high speed pursuit on South 18th Street in Centerville.

The chase began near the intersection of South 18th Street and East Wall Street, when a Centerville Police Officer attempted to pull a Maroon Chevrolet S10 truck over. The vehicle then led law enforcement officers from the Centerville Police Department and the Appanoose County Sheriff’s office on a high speed pursuit through Centerville.

According to scanner traffic, the vehicle went through several yards while it attempted to elude officers.

Heavy fog and slick road conditions allowed the truck to get away momentarily. A resident in the area of the Highlander Mobile Park saw the truck pull into the mobile home park and called the Centerville Law Center. Police arrived a short time later and made the arrests.

Kyle Austin Davis, 24, of Centerville, was charged with driving while barred and eluding as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry said that multiple traffic violations were still pending Sunday evening.

Davis was being held in the Appanoose County Jail. His bond is to be determined pending the finalization of charges.

Wonda Lavone Jackson, 44, of Centerville, was also arrested at the scene. She was cited with interference with official acts and was released a short time later

Davis has a separate charge of driving while eluding still pending from Jan. 26.
