OTTUMWA —
Southeast Iowa residents can be forgiven if they feel a little confused about the weather this weekend. It will feel like a heat waved but, in reality, will be little more than a return to normal.
Friday's forecast high is 44 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. That's right at the 45 degree average high for the date. If temperatures nudge their way to 45, it will be the first time in more than two weeks that the area has actually hit the average for the date.
Temperatures last rose to the average on Feb. 24, when they managed to climb to 41 degrees. The area has been stuck in the 20s and 30s ever since, even as the average high temperatures have risen into the mid 40s.
The last time temperatures were routinely above average was in mid-February, when daytime highs in the 40s and even 50s were well above normal.
Temperatures are expected to stay near normal for the next week. The forecast isn't all sun, though. Rain is expected over the weekend.
